How the calculator works

  1. Time: 1 hour to start, plus 30 minutes per bedroom and 45 minutes per bathroom, rounded to the nearest 15 minutes.
  2. Kind of clean: a deep clean takes about 1.5 times as long as a standard clean; a move-in or move-out clean about twice as long.
  3. Labor: the hours times your hourly rate. If two cleaners go, the job takes about half the time, so the price stays the same.
  4. Recurring clients: weekly, every-two-weeks and monthly visits get 15%, 10% and 5% off. Homes cleaned often stay cleaner, so the visits go faster.
  5. Extras: flat prices for jobs like the inside of the oven or fridge. Change them to match what you charge.

Hourly or flat rate?

Most clients prefer a flat price per clean: they know what they'll pay, and you're rewarded for working efficiently. Work out the flat price from your hourly rate, as this calculator does, then re-check it after the first two or three visits to the home. If a clean keeps running long, raise the price or quote extras separately.
